James Trumble
jtrumbe2One of Greenwood Volunteer Fire and Rescue’s newer members, James Trumble, wanted to give back to the community. James states, “I started volunteering looking for a way I could help my community, meet new people and become more physically active. Every day I am at the station is a learning experience. I hope to, in the future, enroll in the fire academy and become a firefighter. I would say to potential volunteers, this is a very rewarding experience.”

Dan Cunningham, President of Greenwood Volunteer Fire and Rescue, considers James to be an asset!

Bryan Conrad
bryanBryan Conrad began his career in Fire and Rescue at the age of eighteen in 1973. While in college, Bryan joined the Hampton-Sydney Volunteer Fire Department. After securing his initial training through the Virginia Department of Fire Programs, he served as an Officer from 1975-1977. In July of 1975, Bryan joined Boyce Volunteer Fire Company. In the 1980’s, Bryan served as President and from 2002-2013, he was Chief. Bryan Conrad is currently the Assistant Chief at Boyce and intends to continue to volunteer for as long as he is able.

Eric Sothen
sothenEric Sothen is the current Fire Captain at Shawnee Volunteer Fire and Rescue in the City of Winchester. He has been a member of Shawnee since March of 2013. Eric graduated from Frederick County’s Fire Academy last spring in March of 2014. At Shawnee’s annual banquet for 2014, Eric was named Firefighter of the year! In addition, Eric was the recipient of the Russell L. Goode Award for Outstanding Member. One of Eric’s biggest accomplishments is the organization and implementation of a probationary member program. Eric Sothen is constantly striving to make himself a better firefighter and officer so that he can improve and enhance his Department.
